1. Journal: Summarize your understanding of the topics in the supplementary reading with respect to the videos. Focus on points of agreement and disagreement and conclude with a personal statement outlining the impact of the reading on your understanding of this time in the early church.
2. Read the commentaries in light of the journal exercise (see above) with a view to advancing your understanding further. On a separate paper, identify 5 points where the authors were in agreement. What common conclusions are drawn from these commentaries? Now identify points of disagreement. In light of this, if you were creating a Bible lesson, how would you present this material?
