Christian Narrative II: Redemption

Overview

[Begin Transcript] Does salvation really hinge on the person and work of Jesus Christ? Who is the Holy Spirit anyway? What’s the difference between a spiritual gift and the fruit of the Spirit? How do we know that someone really is saved? And when the end comes, what’s going to happen to us, to the earth? Hi. My name is Steve Grusendorf. And if you’ve ever asked a question like this, then this course is for you. Christian Narrative 2 is the second of two courses designed by Lancaster Bible College to help you understand God’s story and the theology that surrounds it. Designed for learners of all stages, this course combines online and self-directed learning in a way that will have you digging deep into God’s word. And when you dig in, we’re not just going to ask questions, but we’re going to find answers to some of life’s most challenging questions. By the way, along the journey, we’re going to begin to spot God’s big story, the one story that God is telling us through the pages of the Bible. All the while, we’re going to ask the question, “How does what we’re learning make a practical difference in the life that we are attempting to live for Jesus?” So I want you to join me today as we begin our journey together in Christian Narrative 2. [End Transcript]

Course Description: This course explores the relationship of God to humanity from the vantage point of redemption (Soteriology), looking at the incarnation, the atonement, and the doctrine of regeneration (Christology and Pneumatology). The course also explores the new community of the redeemed, the church (Ecclesiology). The future dimension of redemption, entailing the events of the last days (Eschatology) receives attention.

Student Learning Outcomes: As a result of this course the student will:

  1. Develop a basic knowledge of redemption and related doctrines.
  2. Interact with the historical development and contemporary expressions of redemption.
  3. Correlate belief into a personal walk with God and ministry.
  4. Articulate a sound understanding of the doctrines covered in the course.
